This one was special - clients wanted something modern but warm, y'know? We played with angles and natural light to frame those incredible lake views. The kids' playroom on the second floor? Completely their idea, and honestly it turned out way cooler than our original plan.

Coffee shops are tough - everyone's got an opinion. We stripped it back to basics: good flow, tons of natural light, and materials that'll age beautifully. That reclaimed wood? Came from an old barn outside Guelph. The owner cried when she saw it finished, which yeah... made our year.

Tech companies want "collaborative spaces" but also need quiet zones - it's always a balancing act. We created these pod-like meeting areas that don't need walls. Plus green terraces on every floor 'cause honestly, who wants to work without seeing some plants?

Rosedale Passive House
Our first certified Passive House and man, what a learning curve. The clients were all-in on sustainability from day one, which helped. Triple-glazed windows, super-insulated walls, the works. Their heating bill last winter? Under 50 bucks. Yeah, we're kinda proud of that one.

Harbourfront Bistro
Restaurant design is all about atmosphere, right? But you've also gotta think about how servers move, kitchen sightlines, acoustic dampening... We went with this warm industrial vibe - exposed brick, custom lighting fixtures, and booth seating that actually fits real human bodies. Novel concept, we know.

King West Townhomes
Six units, each one unique but still cohesive as a row. We played with setbacks and rooflines to avoid that cookie-cutter look. Private courtyards for each unit was non-negotiable - even in the city, people need their own outdoor space to breathe.

Cabbagetown Victorian Revival
Heritage homes are tricky - you're basically threading a needle between preservation and modern living. We kept all the original trim and that gorgeous staircase, but opened up the main floor completely. The heritage committee fought us on the skylights, but eventually they saw the light (pun intended).

Client brief: "We want nothing." Sounds easy but it's actually the hardest. Every detail has to earn its place. We designed custom storage solutions hidden everywhere, so the spaces feel calm and uncluttered. Less really is more, but getting there? That's the challenge.
